Background:
Bangalore came into existence in the 16th century, when a local chief, Kempe Gowda, built a small mud fort here.
It became a major fort city under Hyder Ali and then in the 18th century, under Tipu Sultan.

It witnessed many conflicts between the British and Tipu Sultan. The British made it the regional administrative city in 1831.
Now Bangalore is known by many names. It is called "the Garden city" owing to many beautiful gardens and flowers found all over the city. It is also called "the Pub City" due to many Pubs that are located here, and "Silicon Valley of India" due to its lead over other Indian cities in IT and Software industry.

It has good motorable roads connecting all the nearby cities.
Regular buses also ply between Bangalore and Mysore (3 hrs), Chennai (8 hrs) and Mumbai (24 hrs).
