Background:
Founded in 1488, Bikaner is a desert city built on an elevation on the ancient caravan routes linking Central Asia and North India with the Gujarat seaports.
It is surrounded by a seven-kilometre long wall and has five entrances.
It has faced many foreign intrusions and was attacked many times by the Mughals and the British.

Today tourist visiting Binaker enjoy its local traditions, colourful bazaars and havelis. Bikaner camel festival is also held annually.
