Situated in the Devikulam taluka of the Idukki district, the Eravikulum NP lies amongst the high ranges in the Munnar Forest.
Established to protect the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, the park was declared as Sanctuary in 1975 and later notified as National Park in 1978.

The major portion of the park is covered with grassland and it extends into Tamil Nadu as the Annamalai National Park.

Thick tropical evergreen forest covered with grasslands. The park is most famous for its population of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Other animals found are tiger, panther, wild dogs, bear, etc
