Named after Lord Dalhousie, the British viceroy in India, the hill-station of Dalhousie was established in 1854 as a summer retreat for the British officers and
troops.
The 13 sq km beautiful hill-station is made up of five hills which are covered with colourful flowers and deodar & pine trees.
Apart from its natural beauty, it is also known for its market place where one can buy various stuff like woolen shawls, chappals, dolls, cane baskets, colourful woolen cloths etc.

Portreyn
It is the most important of the five hills, which Dalhousie is made of. It is very popular and has a walking area starting from Portreyn Mall and crosses the meeting place of the Subhash Chowk and Gandhi Chowk. Colourful pictures carved on the rock by the Tubetans is also quite popular.
Panchpulla (Five Bridges)
It is a good Picnic spot.
Satdhara
It is known for its mineral water. The water from here was once shipped to England.
Dainkund or Singing HillIt is the tallest peak around Dalhousie and is known for the different noises made by the wind blowing through the hills and forest. It also provides great view of the region.
