Background:
Madikeri, also known as "Scotland of India", is the headquarters of the district of Coorg or Kodagu. Coorg / Kodagu, meaning "land of dense forest on steep hills", is a district famous for its natural beauty and Madikeri is a very picturesque and charming town, known for its tea and coffee plantation, misty hills, Orchid plantations and amazing views.

What to see:
Raja's Seat
It has a garden with a spectacular view of the sunset and is believed to have been the favorite spot of the rulers of Coorg to spend their evenings.

Madikeri Fort
Location: In the centre of Madikeri
Built in the 19th century, the fort has a temple, chapel, prison, museum and beautiful view of Madikeri.

Abbi Falls
Location: 8 km from Madikeri
A very famous water falls and a nice place for picnic located by beautiful coffee plantation. The waterfalls remains all through the year, even in summer months.

Nagarhole National Park 
Location: 90 km from Madikeri
A very famous National Park known for its population of elephants, bisons, deers, peacock, tigers and the winding river that flows through it.

Reaching there:
Air: Mangalore (135 Km) has the nearest airport. Other convenient airport is at Bangalore (260 km).

Rail: Mysore (114 Km) and Mangalore (135 Km) are the nearest railway station, which are well connected by rail with major cities and towns in India.

Road: It is on the Mysore - Mangalore state highway and can be reached from either of the places. Buses and Taxis are available from Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore and Tellicherry.
